Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking individuals to serve as Food Service Specialists. You will learn to plan and prep menus, prepare and serve meals, and ensure food safety whether in a field setting or a fixed facility.

You’ll gain skills for civilian kitchen roles and may pursue a career as cook, chef, or food service professional while serving part-time with drill weekends and paid training.

Qualifications

• Enlistment in Army National Guard required.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam.
• Citizenship requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
