Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Food Service Specialist to provide sustenance for Soldiers, plan and prepare menus, and ensure food safety in diverse environments. You will learn to serve meals for both field and fixed facilities, with hands-on training and the chance to develop civilian career options in kitchens and dining facilities.

The role includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 9 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, paid training, a monthly paycheck, and access to tuition assistance

Qualifications

• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
• Must be between ages 17 and 35.
• Requires military enlistment in the Army National Guard.

Responsibilities

• Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes.
• Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment.
