Job summary

Maschio's Food Service Inc. is seeking a School Food Service Supervisor to manage daily operations in a New Jersey school setting. You will lead kitchen and dining staff, ensure NSLP compliance, and uphold quality, safety, and service standards.

The role requires strong organizational and leadership abilities, the capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and involvement in menu promotions and staff development. ServSafe certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily school food service operations.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently and according to established standards.
• Support and supervise food service staff to maintain smooth daily operations.
• Prepare and cook a variety of foods according to recipes and established procedures.
• Ensure proper portion control and meet production standards in accordance with NSLP guidelines.
• Help ensure meals meet applicable food service and nutrition requirements.
• Place food and supply orders as needed.
• Monitor inventory, maintain appropriate stock levels, and minimize waste.
• Assist with menu promotions and other food service marketing initiatives.
• Support staff with cash collection and register operations.
• Ensure accurate transactions and compliance with recordkeeping procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and serving area.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are consistently followed.
• Ensure PPE is used appropriately and safety procedures are maintained.
• Assist with recruiting and securing food service workers and substitute staff.
• Provide direction and support to team members.
• Promote a positive, cooperative, and professional work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations

Food Preparation and Production

• Prepare and cook a variety of foods according to recipes and established procedures.
• Ensure proper portion control and meet production standards in accordance with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines.
• Help ensure meals meet applicable food service and nutrition requirements.

Ordering and Inventory

• Place food and supply orders as needed.
• Monitor inventory, maintain appropriate stock levels, and minimize waste.
• Assist with menu promotions and other food service marketing initiatives.

Point-of-Sale (POS) and Cash Handling

• Support staff with cash collection and register operations.
• Ensure accurate transactions and compliance with recordkeeping procedures.

Food Safety and Cleanliness

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and serving area.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation procedures are consistently followed.
• Ensure required personal protective equipment (PPE) is used appropriately and safety procedures are maintained.

Staffing and Team Leadership

• Assist with recruiting and securing food service workers and substitute staff.
