Job summary

ND Dept of Corrections and Rehabilitation seeks a Food Service Supervisor to oversee the facility's food service program, planning nutritious meals, managing purchasing and inventory, and ensuring compliance with USDA, health department, ACA, and Joint Commission standards. The role directs staff and resident workers and maintains records.

You will contribute to continuous improvement of kitchen operations and ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient service across all areas.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree with coursework in dietetics or food services and one year of work experience similar in type and complexity to professional experience in a large scale food service program.
• Work experience in lieu of degree on a year-for-year basis can substitute for the degree requirements to equal five years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and review menus in accordance with USDA and regulatory guidelines.
• Prepare meals and support kitchen operations as needed.
• Coordinate purchasing of food, supplies, and equipment; maintain adequate inventory.
• Schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate food service staff and resident workers.
• Approve timesheets, assign tasks, and manage workload distribution.
• Enforce safety and sanitation standards, including HAACP compliance and regular inspections.
• Investigate safety incidents and coordinate maintenance requests.
• Maintain required food service records, inventories, temperature logs, inspections, and reporting.
• Complete monthly reports and support annual Registered Dietitian reviews.
• Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.
