JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Position Summary:

The Food Service Assistant (FSA) assists the Food & Nutrition Services Supervisor (FNSS) to ensure breakfast, lunch, and snack services at St. Joseph Academy (SJA) are consistent with accepted national food handling standards, SJA mission and values, policies, and regulations. The FSA performs a variety of food preparation, sanitary services, equipment operation, and facility cleaning tasks. The FSA may also fill in for absent staff.

Qualifications:

• High School Degree or GED preferred
• Experience in Food Service/Kitchen preferred
• Safe Serve Certification required within 6 months
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Ability to analyze issues, work cooperatively, communicate effectively, and handle multiple tasks
• Detail-oriented with good hand-eye coordination

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide excellent service to children, respecting privacy and confidentiality
• Model child-centered behaviors
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards
• Operate and secure equipment safely
