Job summary

Bento Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Technician to ensure food safety policies are followed and product quality standards are met in our manufacturing plant.

You will assist supervision with GMP/HACCP compliance, conduct regular audits, maintain HACCP records, collect samples, train staff, and support supplier QA. This is a full-time on-site role with multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Food Science, Chemistry, Public Health or Biological Science.
• Knowledge of food safety standards.
• HACCP plant experience is an asset.
• Previous leadership experience preferably in a Food Processing facility.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines & pressure.
• Must be computer literate.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish an asset

Responsibilities

• Ensure food safety policies are being adhered to and product quality standards are being met in our Food Manufacturing Plant.
• Assist the front-line supervisory staff in ensuring adherence to GMP and HACCP program compliance.
• Ensure the manufacturing processes and facilities meet quality standards with emphasis on product safety, sanitation, environmental awareness, and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure product quality through random on-floor quality checks; ensure the facility meets FDA standards by regular internal audit.
• Perform routine audits in the plant & warehouse to ensure that company standards are met.
• Responsible for Food safety and quality control training class and schedule.
• Responsible for HACCP records keeping, review, verification, and corrective actions. Update or assist revisions of SOPs and specifications.
• Collect and send microbiological and chemical samples for lab test and verify results against standards.
• Ensure supplier information updated and the material received follows QA standards. Ensure finished product specifications, microbiological and chemical integrity.
• Perform audits of the factory (daily pre-operational checks, internal audits, etc.).
• Conduct in-depth investigations to resolve non-compliant product or practice and apply findings to improve the process.
