Responsibilities

• Execute inspection methods to ensure safe products and identify non-compliance, documenting findings and initiating enforcement when warranted.
• Verify SSOP and HACCP plans meet regulatory requirements and are properly implemented to prevent unsanitary conditions and adulteration of product.
• Review plant records, observe operations, conduct hands-on verification, and prepare Non-Compliance Records detailing non‑compliance.
• Assess when regulatory action is necessary and evaluate corrective actions, trends in non-compliance, and enforcement needs.
• Engage with plant management to explain legal requirements, discuss SSOP/HACCP operation, and other food safety programs.
• Communicate determinations on non-compliance and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other agencies on animal health restrictions and entry issues for meat and poultry products.
