Job summary

The Kahala Hotel is seeking a dedicated Food Runner to support the seamless flow between front-of-house and back-of-house in a luxury setting on Oahu. You will ensure orders are prepared and presented to the highest standard and keep service moving efficiently.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of restaurant or hotel experience, strong organization and communication skills, and a calm demeanor in a busy, high-end environment. This is a full-time position with varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years restaurant and/or hotel food and beverage and/or culinary experience required.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Experience in a first-class, luxury restaurant and hotel required.
• Leadership skills essential for successful execution between the kitchen and floor.
• Sense of taste and smell.
• Time management skills and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all kitchen orders are prepared in a timely manner and according to menu and customer specifications.
• May also finalize the presentation of the plate and test the temperature of the food.
• Directs the kitchen and wait staff who are delivering completed orders, to keep orders flowing from the kitchen to the diners and maintain timely service.
• In charge of the final presentation of the plate, making sure it is dressed and garnished correctly and free from smudges or spills.
• They explain special orders to the cooks, and tell servers when the kitchen is out of a particular menu item.
• Candidate must possess exceptional organization, coordination and communication skills.
• Must be able to call out orders across a line and maintain composure in a loud, hot environment.
• May handle customer complaints, strong customer service skills are important.
• With hours of bending, standing and working in hot conditions, must be in good physical condition.

Job description

Pay Range: $26.70 - $33.37 / hourly compensation

Food runner communicates orders and information between the front of house and back of house, making sure that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer as beautifully as possible in a timely and complete manner.

Education/Training Requirements
