Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking an R&D Laboratory Technician in Roselle, NJ to support product development initiatives and new product innovation. This hands-on role collaborates with the product development team on formulation trials, testing, and documentation from concept through production.

The ideal candidate has a passion for food and lab work, with at least two years in food product development or related settings, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree (relevant industry experience will be considered).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in food product development, laboratory operations, quality testing, or a related food manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow formulas, procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Experience with product testing, ingredient handling, formulation work, or quality evaluations is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, weigh, measure, and blend ingredients accurately for product development trials.
• Assist with formulation development, product evaluation, and sample preparation.
• Participate in product testing activities, including sensory evaluations and performance assessments.
• Record formulas, test results, observations, and other development data with a high level of accuracy.
• Support scale-up activities and production trials as products move from development to manufacturing.
• Perform routine quality checks to verify products meet established specifications and standards.
• Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary laboratory environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams, to support product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
