Job summary

ICNA Relief in Alexandria, VA seeks a Food Pantry Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of the pantry you are assigned to. You will ensure compliance with policies, maintain order, and assist in distributing food with a focus on service and donor relations.

The role requires strong English communication, ability to handle lifting and logistics, and willingness to learn Spanish if needed. Flexible hours and occasional evenings may be required to support the pantry.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a food pantry
• Certifications and diverse experience preferred
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor degree preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication skills are mandatory
• Fluency in English is compulsory
• Willingness to learn Spanish if needed

Responsibilities

• Oversee the proper implementation and improvement of the food pantry program
• Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the pantry
• Place food items in their respective racks per guidelines
• Monitor for pests and take corrective actions
• Assist in maintaining temperature logs per local food bank specifications
• Assist in distributing food during operating hours
• Communicate client problems to the Pantry Manager and propose solutions
• Maintain reordering of pantry items
• Be familiar with the food pickup schedule
• Conduct orientation for new volunteers
• Implement instructions from higher authorities
• Develop community resources for the pantry
