Sartiano's at the Mercer Hotel (99 Prince Street)

The Place:

Nestled in the heart of SoHo at The Mercer, Sartiano’s combines Italian heritage and fare with a modern fine dining experience.

Sartiano’s was created by prominent lifestyle architect Scott Sartiano, with culinary direction from three-time James Beard award winner Chef Alfred Portale.

The Cuisine:

Alfred Portale will lead the culinary direction as the Chef managing Partner. The uniquely crafted menu focuses on a specialty to set the tone for the fine dining experience, emphasizing authentic Italian cuisine with a focus on specialized meats.

The Executive Chef:

Chef Chris Lewnes, a Brooklyn-born Italian American, grew up surrounded by Italian American flavors in central New Jersey. After attending Rutgers University and earning a journalism degree, he pursued a culinary career, eventually becoming Executive Chef at Sartiano’s in The Mercer Hotel, working alongside Chef Portale to share his love for Italian American cuisine in New York.

The Role:

Assist in overseeing Food and Beverage operations to ensure overall success and support the Front of House staff and senior leadership for operational excellence.

The Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all front of house staff uphold Sartiano’s Food and Beverage standards.
  • Maintain staff grooming and uniform standards at all times.
  • Manage the floor during peak services.
  • Promote teamwork and create a positive work environment.
  • Report on food and beverage sales, results, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with NYS sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a related position.
  • Strong knowledge of NYS sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good work history and stability.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects.
  • Ability to work on your feet for at least 10 hours.
  • Fast-paced movements required to move around the venue.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
  • Occasional exposure to cold, heat, and water.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as needed.
