The role demands deep knowledge of FOIA and DoD regulations, strong written communication, and the ability to process about 40 requests per month while meeting statutory timelines.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of FOIA (5 U.S.C. § 552) and DoD Manual 5400.07.
• Experience identifying FOIA exemptions and applying redactions.
• Experience conducting thorough record searches across enterprise electronic systems.
• Strong written communication for formal response letters and fee communications.

Responsibilities

• Support the FOIA program ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
• Process ~40 FOIA requests per month from receipt to final disposition.
• Conduct searches for responsive records across offices and electronic systems.
• Analyze records for exemptions and apply redactions as needed.
• Draft response letters including release determinations and fee communications.
• Maintain FOIA case files and tracking logs for reporting and compliance.
• Prepare and deliver a Monthly FOIA Status Report detailing metrics.
