Job summary

Randolph County (NC) is seeking an Income Maintenance Caseworker I to determine eligibility for the Food and Nutrition Services program and oversee related intake, processing, and review tasks.

You will interview clients, collect data, enter information in a state web-based system, and verify eligibility while explaining requirements and directing clients to appropriate services. One year of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing clients and/or reviewing forms/data to determine eligibility.
• Entering information into a web-based application to complete initial applications and verify information.
• Determining and/or verifying eligibility using a web-based application.
• Completing scheduled reviews by obtaining required information and processing updated information in a web-based application.
• Explain requirements and options for obtaining the services and advise or refer clients to other services as appropriate.
