Job summary

SSM Health is seeking a Health Information Disability & FMLA Processing Rep to support employees through disability, FMLA and return-to-work processes. This on-site role emphasizes careful handling of confidential health information and accurate processing of forms within the Health Information Department.

The incumbent will review medical histories, process requests from various employers and insurers, and maintain timely communication with patients and clinical staff while ensuring HIPAA

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in health information or related field.
• High School diploma or GED or 10 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and summarizes patient charted medical history, diagnoses, and CPT codes to answer FMLA and disability forms.
• Processes disability, FMLA and return-to-work forms from employers and insurance companies after intake.
• Answers calls from patients, insurers, employers and staff, providing form status information and problem resolution.
• Validates authorization to release records and ensures HIPAA compliance; scans forms into the EHR.
• Communicates with clinical staff via EHR messages to complete forms promptly.
• Reviews forms for HIPAA compliance and accuracy; mails/faxes/emails or sends via secure messaging to recipients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
