Job summary

OPW in Hamilton, OH seeks a front-end product design engineer to drive the development of fluid-handling components from concept to prototyping and testing. You will use CAD to create detailed designs, collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations, and guide stage-gate projects.

Responsibilities include building and testing prototypes, DFMA-aligned manufacturing processes, managing ECN changes, and maintaining BOMs, drawings, FMEA. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• BSME degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3–5+ years of design or application engineering experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling; Creo/ Windchill preferred.
• Familiar with DFMA, FMEA, and stage-gate processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD to create detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and 2D drawings based on input.
• Manage project plans, deadlines, and costs; lead cross-functional teams through the stage-gate process.
• Build, test, and refine prototypes to ensure safety, functionality, durability, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with operations to develop manufacturing processes using DFMA principles.
• Manage engineering changes and document BOMs, drawings, FMEA, and related information.
• Interface with sustaining engineering and operations to provide technical support.
• Support customer service and sales with escalated technical inquiries.
• Other duties as needed.
