Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Louisiana seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist to join our patient-focused laboratory team.

You will perform and interpret routine and specialized tests, ensure quality control, maintain instruments, and support safety and regulatory compliance. A Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related science is required; ASCP/AMT/AAB certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as MLS/MT OR ASCP discipline certification for Academic Medical Center facility.
• ASCP Certification Maintenance Program requirements apply for those certified after 2004.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting; documents corrective actions.
• Adheres to regulatory compliance and accreditation standards; follows safety and proficiency testing protocols.
• Participates in performance improvement by data collection and cost reduction efforts; manages inventory.
• Adapts communication and procedures to patient privacy and population needs.
• Other related duties as required.
