Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high‑performing team. The role performs and interprets routine and specialized lab tests, ensuring quality control and instrument maintenance.

The position requires a BS in medical technology or related field, state licensure, and appropriate MLS/MT certifications. You will collaborate with clinicians to provide accurate data for diagnosis while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science or related field.
• Current license to practice in the state of Louisiana (where applicable).
• ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as MLS/MT, or discipline-specific certification as MLS/MT for designated facilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs, develops and interprets routine and/or specialized laboratory testing independently within established time frames.
• Performs quality control and instrument maintenance; documents actions and escalates when results are out of control.
• Adheres to regulatory, accreditation and safety guidelines; participates in proficiency testing.
• Participates in performance improvement and inventory management to support cost reductions.
• Adapts communication and service approach to meet patient and care team needs.
