Job summary

Hy-Vee Newton is seeking an experienced Floral Designer to create beautiful arrangements to customer specifications and lead floral clerks. You will ensure the department stays stocked, fresh, and running smoothly while handling orders from FTD, Teleflora, and the internet with discretion.

You will greet customers, advise on floral care, and coordinate with the Floral Manager to meet daily deadlines and event needs. A high school diploma and 3 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong floral design skills and knowledge of floral products, care and handling.
• Lead and guide floral clerks in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to apply math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages in day-to-day tasks.
• Excellent customer service and communication with customers, team members, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and creating arrangements to exact specifications.
• Clean, process, and cut flowers and wrap with care to avoid damage.
• Fill orders completely and on time for occasions such as weddings, funerals, and anniversaries.
• Process FTD, interstore, Teleflora, and internet orders; maintain confidentiality of orders.
• Inventory products, monitor freshness, and replace damaged stock as needed.
• Lead floral clerks by training them on simple designs and daily tasks.
• Order flowers and supplies daily with direction from the Floral Manager.
• Identify store areas to place specials and share creative ideas for arrangements.
• Assist with in-store events and assume department leadership in absence of management.
