Job summary

The Weil Foot & Ankle Institute is seeking a Floating Medical Assistant / Patient Services Representative to support multiple podiatry clinics across our network. You will assist with patient care, front desk tasks, scheduling, and insurance verification to ensure a smooth patient flow and excellent service.

Travel between Illinois Masonic, Lincoln Park, Rush Downtown, and California locations is required, with flexibility to cover additional clinics as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient or ambulatory setting required.
• Customer service experience required.
• Experience with EMR and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in a podiatry, orthopedic, surgical, or multispecialty practice preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; escort to exam rooms and obtain medical histories.
• Measure and record vital signs and perform ancillary tests as applicable.
• Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, in-office procedures, and wound care.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms; ensure cleanliness and supplies.
• Sterilize instruments per infection control standards.
• Document patient information in the EMR accurately.
• Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and post-procedure instructions.
• Coordinate patient care and communicate with providers and clinical staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Respond to urgent patient situations and emergencies.
• Welcome patients and visitors; provide front desk support as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments; verify insurance; collect demographics.
