Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Float Registration Specialist to support outpatient clinics by ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate registration. Training includes Cerner and shadowing with other float staff to learn multiple office workflows.

You will verify demographics and insurance information, schedule appointments and procedures, and help teams across multiple locations to maintain efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Prefer relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) preferred.
• Ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, professional manner
• Obtain and verify financial and demographic information for accurate billing and clinical outcomes
• Schedule appointments and procedures
• Interview patients for medical information and explain charges and policies
• Validate and enter charges into appropriate systems; collect necessary payments
• Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately
