Job summary

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team. The CNA will provide basic nursing care, support the department, and coordinate with nursing staff and physicians to ensure quality patient care.

This role emphasizes patient hygiene, data entry in EMR, and helping with day-to-day operations, under the supervision of the bedside RN.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program.
• Current unencumbered CNA certification and current BLS.
• Experience: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care within CNA scope of practice.
• Serves as department receptionist and communicates messages.
• Performs general administrative duties (emails, filing, ordering supplies).
• Data input using EMR, staffing and charge systems, and electronic bed board.
• Stocking nurse servers and carts in patient rooms.
• Assists with patient daily hygiene under RN supervision.
• Assists in equipment maintenance and transport of patients, specimens, and supplies.
• Notifies licensed personnel when patient pain, vital signs, or intake/output are out of range.

Acts as the department facilitator; communicates with the public and various hospital departments, physicians, and nursing personnel. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and communication needs within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
• Serves as department receptionist, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination.
• Performs other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.).
• Responsible for (or assists with) data input using EMR, staffing and charge capture systems, electronic bed board, charge entry and charge reconciliation.
• Performs stocking of the nurse servers in patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis.
• Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met (i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc.) under the direction of the bedside RN.
• Demonstrates ability to handle patients safely and utilizes proper body mechanics and techniques; uses gait belt with transfer of fall risk patients
• Assists in maintenance of equipment as needed.
• Transport patients, blood, specimens, and other items as needed.
• Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain and when vital signs, or intake and output are less than or greater than acceptable ranges.
