Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care within CNA scope of practice.
• Serve as department receptionist and route inquiries to appropriate destinations.
• Perform general administrative tasks (emails, filing, supplies).
• Input data using EMR and related systems; assist with charge capture and reconciliation.
• Stock nurse stations and patient room supplies.
• Assist with patient daily hygiene under RN supervision.
• Demonstrate safe patient handling and use of gait belt.
• Assist in equipment maintenance as needed.
• Transport patients, specimens, and other items as required.
• Notify licensed personnel when patient pain or vital signs fall outside acceptable ranges.

JOB SUMMARY:

Helps to facilitate functions of the department assigned/floated to by performing duties and responsibilities as described. Acts as the department facilitator; communicates with the public and various hospital departments, physicians, and nursing personnel. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides basic nursing care that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and communication needs within the nursing assistant's scope of practice.
2. Serves as department receptionist, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination.
3. Performs other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.).
4. Responsible for (or assists with) data input using EMR, staffing and charge capture systems, electronic bed board, charge entry and charge reconciliation.
5. Performs stocking of the nurse servers in patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis.
6. Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met (i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc.) under the direction of the bedside RN.
7. Demonstrates ability to handle patients safely and utilizes proper body mechanics and techniques; uses gait belt with transfer of fall risk patients
8. Assists in maintenance of equipment as needed.
9. Transport patients, blood, specimens, and other items as needed.
10. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain and when vital signs, or intake and output are less than or greater than acceptable ranges.
