Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties to support efficient clinic flow, safe operations, and excellent patient experiences. They support patient care by taking medical histories, capturing and documenting vital signs, updating medical records, communicating with patients, and maintaining confidentiality. Responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

1. Greet and escort patients, gather history, record vital signs, prepare patients for exams, and document all in medical records.
2. Support high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication, ensuring a safe environment.
3. Assist physicians or advanced practice providers during exams and procedures under supervision.
4. Perform medical procedures such as collecting specimens, administering injections, and venipuncture, as permitted by state law.
5. Communicate instructions to patients and ensure understanding.
6. Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, follow-ups, and communicate results.
7. Maintain exam rooms and supplies, sterilize instruments.
8. Respond to calls, requests, and manage patient files and records.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification required within 6 months to 1 year based on state law.

Experience: At least 1 year, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.

Certifications: CPR required. Ability to follow universal precautions, OSHA, and HIPAA standards. Willingness to travel to multiple practice locations.
