Overview
Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties to support efficient clinic flow, effective and safe operations, and an excellent patient experience. Responsibilities include taking medical histories, documenting vital signs, updating medical records, communicating with patients, and maintaining confidentiality. Responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

  1. Greet and escort patients, gather history, record vital signs, prepare for exams, and document all information.
  2. Support high-quality patient experience through excellent service and communication, ensuring a safe environment.
  3. Assist physicians and advanced practice providers in exams and procedures under supervision.
  4. Perform medical procedures such as collecting specimens, administering injections, and venipuncture, as permitted by state law.
  5. Communicate instructions to patients, ensuring understanding.
  6. Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, follow-ups, and communicate results.
  7. Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and sterilize instruments.
  8. Respond to calls, requests, and messages, and maintain patient records.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required. Certification required; if not certified, must obtain within 6 months to 1 year depending on state laws.

Experience: At least 1 year in an OB/GYN setting preferred.

Certifications: CPR certification required. Ability to follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations. Must be willing to travel at least 50%, regularly to 4 of 8 locations.
