Mercy Medical Center in Maryland invites you to join our team as a Medical Assistant I. The MAI supports MD/NP/PA, prepares procedures, sets up rooms, and ensures equipment is maintained and ready for patient care.

We offer a $1,500 sign-on bonus for MA and MOS hires; education requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of MA/EMT-Paramedic experience preferred; CPR is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum one year of MA or EMT-Paramedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assist with office procedures.
• Chaperone providers during examinations.
• Take pre‑op and post‑op patient photos.
• Maintain and transport instruments to CSS.
• Process surgical specimens and deliver to Pathology.
• Update patient histories in the EHR.
• Perform injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed.

Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department. Additionally, the MAI demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures. Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.

• Setting up and assisting with office procedures
• Chaperone providers during patient examination
• Taking pre‑op and post‑op photos of patients
• Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)
• Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology
• Maintaining and stocking exam rooms
• ordering clinical supplies
• Completing FMLA and Disability forms
• Cleaning and resetting exam rooms
• Travel to satellite locations as needed
• Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
• Administer injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on‑site training provided)
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

• Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT‑Paramedic

• Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
