Job summary

Relative Dynamics is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Flight Termination Systems to join the Range Safety Operations Division at Wallops Flight Facility. This on-site role at NASA Wallops Island, VA, supports SMAS III contracts and requires reviewing designs, testing, and certifying FTS hardware to meet stringent safety and mission criteria.

The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering and at least 5 years of aerospace experience, including

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years in aerospace/defense electronics.
  • Experience with FTS or safety-critical systems for rockets.
  • Strong RF system knowledge and high-reliability circuit design.
  • Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, FAA range safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams; security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

  • FTS design review and certification.
  • Review, test, and certify FTS hardware and electronics.
  • Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance of launch vehicle operations.
  • Perform environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC).
  • Apply NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety requirements.
