Job summary

Relative Dynamics is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Flight Termination Systems to join the Range Safety Operations Division at Wallops Flight Facility.

The role focuses on reviewing, testing, and certifying FTS hardware to meet NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA requirements, ensuring safety and reliability of launch vehicle operations.

Located on site at Wallops Island, VA, the position offers regulatory oversight, hands-on testing, and collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years in aerospace/defense electronics.
• Experience with FTS or safety-critical systems for rockets is required.
• Strong knowledge of RF systems, command destruct receivers, and high reliability circuit design.
• Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety requirements.
• Hands-on environmental testing experience (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC).
• Security clearance may be required depending on program.

Responsibilities

• FTS design review and certification.
• Review, test, and certify FTS hardware and electronics against regulatory and mission requirements.
• Ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of launch vehicle operations.
• Perform and evaluate environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC) on safety-critical hardware.
• Range safety compliance & documentation.
• Apply NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety and FTS requirements across design and certification activities.
