Job summary

Relative Dynamics is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Flight Termination Systems (FTS) to join the Range Safety Operations Division at Wallops Flight Facility, VA. The role supports NASA SMAS III contract, with on-site duties at NASA Wallops Island.

You will review designs, perform tests, certify FTS hardware, and ensure safety and reliability for launch operations, working across teams under stringent regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years in aerospace/defense electronics.
  • Experience with FTS or safety-critical systems for rockets.
  • Strong knowledge of RF systems, high-reliability circuit design.
  • Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety requirements.
  • Hands-on environmental testing experience; ability to work cross‑discipline.

Responsibilities

  • FTS Design Review & Certification.
  • Review, test, and certify FTS hardware against regulatory and mission requirements.
  • Ensure safety, reliability, and compliance of launch vehicle operations.
  • Perform environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC) on safety-critical hardware.
  • Range Safety Compliance & Documentation.
  • Apply NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety requirements across design and certification activities.
