Job summary

Apex is seeking an Operating Systems Engineer to design, develop, and own the software that brings our spacecraft to life. You will work with mission operations, GNC, and hardware teams to architect and deploy robust flight software across all mission phases.

We value engineers who balance rigor with practicality and thrive in a fast-paced, aerospace startup environment. Prior space experience is not required, and relocation is considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years writing code for operating systems, ideally Yocto or embedded Linux.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own mission-critical software for satellite systems throughout the full software lifecycle.
• Develop, configure, and maintain embedded Linux platforms and bootloader frameworks (Yocto, Buildroot, WolfBoot, U-Boot).
• Design, implement, and validate firmware update mechanisms with secure deployment and recovery procedures.
• Design and implement security enhancements across complex software architectures.
