Job summary

Blue Origin envisions millions of people living and working in space while developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles. This role focuses on flight safety for the New Glenn program, including regulatory approvals and rigorous analyses to support government certifications.

The successful candidate will lead safety studies, prepare technical reports, and collaborate with US government partners, ensuring safety criteria are met in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or an equivalent technical management field.
• Experience with flight safety analysis process, including best practices and state-of-the-industry tools.
• Exposure to LOX/LNG explosive yield, distant-focusing overpressure, probability of failure, debris risk analysis, population modeling, etc.
• Understand the trade space between mission design and optimization parameters within allowable safety criteria
• Experience with regulatory requirements such as Part 450
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Use excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong track record of product ownership
• Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory approvals for the New Glenn launch vehicle program.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships across the New Glenn program and US government partners at the US Space Force and NASA.
• Plan sophisticated products for flight safety in support of government certification requests.
• Conduct flight safety analysis studies including trajectory analysis, debris risk assessment, probability of failure modeling, and DFO/population risk evaluations, and generate clear, well-documented technical reports.
• Demonstrate resourcefulness and flexibility to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be an incredible team member!
