Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) offers substitute teachers the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings throughout Ohio. Substitute teachers play an important role in a student's education.

We assist in placing substitute teachers in vacant positions to facilitate a student's education in the absence of their teacher. OSTS is proud to support Chardon Local Schools in the employment of substitute teachers.

Qualifications

• Criminal record check: clean background for public school employment.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Three professional references.
• Teaching License: Ohio Substitute License or teaching license.
• Complete SubSkills Online training and mandatory development modules.
• Effective communication in writing and orally.
• Punctual attendance.
• Adhere to Ohio Educator conduct codes.

Responsibilities

• Follows lesson plans from absent teacher to maintain continuity.
• Maintains a neat and orderly classroom environment.
• Ensures student supervision and safety.
• Keeps students safe and engaged throughout the day.
• Monitors student progress and assists where needed.
• Maintains existing classroom management and discipline procedures.
• Understands school policies and procedures.
• Provides written feedback to the regular teacher.
• Maintains accurate attendance records.
