Akumin is hiring a Patient Coordinator for a mobile unit stationed at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. The role is full-time and centers on delivering excellent patient care while coordinating registrations, appointments, and insurance verifications.

The position emphasizes strong customer service, organization, and the ability to work at multiple locations. CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire, and pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology/Oncology.
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• As applicable, ability to work at several locations.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• Schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification/authorization.
• Maintain accuracy of patient records and prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other duties as assigned.
