Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology/Oncology.
  • Valid state driver's license may be required.
  • Ability to work at several locations.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, customers, and visitors by phone or in person.
  • Register patients in various systems.
  • Answer calls professionally and courteously.
  • May collect time-of-service payments.
  • May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • Perform patient screening and assist in procedures as needed.
  • Transport patients to/from exam rooms and assist on the table.
  • Provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in mobile setting.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records and documentation.
  • Ensure HIPAA-compliant documentation and image delivery.

We are currently hiring for a Patient Coordinator at our mobile unit stationed at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. This will be a full time position.

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Will perform patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
  • Patient Assistance: May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
  • Work Area & Supply Preparation In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
  • Documentation Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
  • May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
  • For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
  • As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
  • All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
Preferred
  • Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in New Jersey is $18 - $23. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
