Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of library experience.
• Associates Degree with 1 year of library experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or higher.
• Experience operating a computer, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit.
• Passport Certification from the US Department of State is not necessary when applying, but must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level customer service and welcoming assistance to patrons.
• Deliver direct public service including reference, readers advisory, circulation and technology help.
• Support programs, outreach, and other library services to adults or children as assigned.
• Assist Youth Services with storytelling as required.
• Assist with collection management and specialized functions, such as passport services.
