Job summary

College of Lake County is seeking a Substitute Assistant Teacher for the Children’s Learning Center at the Grayslake Campus. Under supervision of the Children’s Learning Director or Coordinator, you will support the Lead Teacher in planning activities promoting physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth for children.

Responsibilities include assisting with group activities, monitoring safety, and maintaining a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse cultures and language groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and facilitating group, small group and individual activities.
• Monitor health, safety and progress; communicate impressions to the Lead Teacher daily.
• Lead group games, songs, stories, movement, trips and projects as planned with the Lead Teacher.
• Greet parents warmly and respond to inquiries in a helpful manner.
• Help prepare for classroom and center staff meetings, parent events, and conferences.
