The College of Lake County is seeking a Substitute Lead Teacher for the Lakeshore Campus to join the Children’s Learning Center. The role supports developmentally appropriate activities and daily operations under the supervision of the Center Director, focusing on fostering children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth.

This part-time position (up to 19 hours weekly) offers $20.31 per hour, with flexible scheduling and eligibility for available benefits.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Development or related field with at least eighteen hours of credit in early childhood education.
  • Early childhood work experience and education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops classroom arrangements for safe, calm, comfortable participation in program activities.
  • Creates consistent daily and weekly activity schedules in consultation with the Center Director.
  • Maintains journals showing children’s participation and growth across social, intellectual, emotional and physical areas.
  • Supervises Center Attendants and student workers as assigned.
  • Prepares reports, attends meetings and enacts plans to improve teaching skills and understanding of child development.
  • Assists in enrollment and orientation of parents and their children.
  • Oversees housekeeping procedures within classroom and common areas, and sanitation procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings and parent conferences; assists as needed.

Education
