Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Banquet Server in Birmingham to provide food and beverage services for catered events, ranging from meetings to formal dinners. You will work under a Banquet Captain/Supervisor, supporting setup, service execution, and breakdown with a focus on delivering a positive guest experience.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, hospitality experience preferred, and valid alcohol-service certification where required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous banquet, catering, food service, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations.
• Must maintain a valid TIPS/Alcohol-service certification and comply with state training requirements.
• A food handler certification may also be required based on state or local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service stations, and work areas during events.
• Clear tables, reset place settings, and assist with maintaining presentation standards.
• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

GED or equivalent experience

Restaurant, banquet or hospitality experience preferred

Minimum age to serve alcohol per local/state law

TIPS/alcohol-service certification or equivalent

Food handler certification may be required
