Job summary

Right At School is seeking a Substitute Educator to support after-school and camp programs at partner schools in Illinois. You will lead activities, supervise children, and help with homework in a safe, structured environment.

The role offers part-time hours (afternoon and some mornings), on-call scheduling, and opportunities to gain experience in education and child development while earning supplemental income.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience working with children under 13 (preferred).
• Ability to lead activities, supervise, and communicate with parents/guardians.
• Must be reliable, punctual and able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in students at session start; take attendance and maintain records.
• Plan and lead daily activities, games, and enrichment lessons for the age group.
• Facilitate homework time and support with tasks as needed.
• Supervise students during free play, snack time, and transitions.
• Address minor conflicts using positive guidance techniques.
• Communicate with parents/guardians at pick-up/drop-off.
• Log incidents and safety concerns with the Program Manager.
• Set up/clean program space and materials daily.
• Attend brief daily team meetings with staff.
