Job summary

Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC is seeking a Gate House Retail Sales Assistant to deliver outstanding guest service, operate the cash register accurately, and assist guests with selections. You will help locate inventory, up-sell and cross-sell to increase revenue, and support opening and closing of the shops.

This flexible reserve role requires reliable, energetic individuals who can maintain a clean, presentable shop and stay knowledgeable about merchandise.

Qualifications

• Previous retail and/or customer service experience strongly preferred; six months in upscale settings helps.
• Exceptional guest relations and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to operate a cash register/POS system.
• Commitment to providing world-class guest service.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest service environment as part of a team.
• Ability to anticipate guest needs, be proactive, and take initiative where appropriate.
• Good judgment and multitasking ability.
• Some locations may have age requirements or restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome all guests. Make each guest's visit memorable and pleasant.
• Efficiently handle large sums of money.
• Open and close the retail shops.
• Clean and organize the shop to keep it presentable and on-brand.
• Familiarize and keep knowledge of all shop merchandise up to date.
• Work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Provide exceptional guest service.
• Exhibit proper phone/radio etiquette.
