Job summary

The Pingry School is seeking experienced per-diem Lower School Substitute Teachers for our Short Hills Campus. This on-call role covers Kindergarten through Grade 5, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., with a daily rate of $170.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, maintaining an engaging learning environment, and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Ideal candidates bring college-level preparation, classroom management skills, and a genuine interest in elementary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Previous lead-teaching or student-teaching experience required.
• Experience with elementary-aged students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instruction from classroom teachers.
• Establish a positive, orderly classroom environment.
• Support student learning, behavior, and emotional needs.
• Provide supervision during transitions, meals, and recess.
• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to support student experiences.
• Model Pingry’s Honor Code and professional standards.
