Job summary

The Pingry School is seeking experienced, caring educators to serve as per-diem Lower School Substitute Teachers at our Short Hills Campus. Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage for Kindergarten through Grade 5 on an as-needed basis.

This is an active teaching role with responsibilities including implementing lesson plans, leading instruction, and supporting students' academic, social, and emotional needs. The daily rate is $170 and the position is on-call.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Previous classroom teaching, student teaching, or comparable lead-teaching experience is required.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to establish expectations.
• Ability to implement lesson plans with limited preparation time.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities for Kindergarten through Grade 5.
• Establish and maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment and reinforce routines.
• Observe students, check understanding, provide appropriate assistance, and support social-emotional needs.
• Provide supervision during transitions, meals, recess, and other activities.
• Adapt to different grade levels and changing schedules.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrators to support student experience.
• Uphold the Honor Code and community expectations in all interactions.
