Job summary

The Pingry School is seeking experienced, caring educators to serve as per-diem Lower School Substitute Teachers at our Short Hills Campus. Substitute Teachers provide classroom coverage for Kindergarten through Grade 5 on an as-needed basis.

This is an on-call, per-diem teaching role with a daily rate of $170. Substitutes must be available to cover full school days from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Join Pingry to support young learners and contribute to an engaging, values-driven learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Lead-teaching or student-teaching experience in elementary grades.
• Experience with K-5 students and classroom routines.
• Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs).
• Strong verbal and written communication; patience and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons and engage students using provided plans.
• Establish a positive, orderly classroom.
• Observe and support student learning, addressing needs.
• Supervise students during transitions, meals, and recess.
• Adapt to different grade levels and daily schedules.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure consistency.
