Job summary

Nurse Next Door San Mateo is seeking compassionate caregivers to join our home care team serving seniors in Millbrae. Pay ranges from $21.00 to $23.00 per hour with shifts 9AM-3PM and 3PM-9PM, and flexible part-time or full-time options to fit your life.

As a home care aide, you will assist with daily living activities, provide companionship, and support clients at home. The role requires registration with the CA Home Care Aide Registry, background checks, and training; valid driver’s license

Qualifications

At least 18 years old.
Current registration with the State of California Home Care Aide Registry.
Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any criminal history or evidence of exemption.
Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training prior to client care and in accordance with CA regulations.
Evidence of tuberculosis testing and verification that the home care aide does not have active tuberculosis.
Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
Help clients with their ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) that are within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
Assisting clients with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
Assisting clients in and out of bed, transfers, positioning and assisting with ambulation.
Assisting with prescribed exercises which clients and aides have been taught by appropriate health personnel.
Meal planning and preparation, including therapeutic diets, and assisting clients with eating.
Assisting clients to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans or urinals and incontinence care.
Performing household services including housekeeping, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.
Assisting clients with medications reminders which are ordinarily self-administered.
Reporting changes in the client's condition and needs to the administrator or care designer.
Completing records regarding services performed.
Driving to appointments or to run errands.
Accurately records all hours worked.
Remains alert throughout the shift in case client requires assistance, responds immediately to any such needs by providing the assistance required, or calling the Company for guidance.
Participating in all required entry-level and annual training requirements.
Maintaining an active home care aide registration with the State of Ca. Dept. of Social Services Home Care Services Bureau.
Other duties as assigned by the administrator or designee.
