Job summary

Nurse Next Door San Mateo is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide nonmedical home care for seniors, helping them stay at home. Flexible 10–40 hours/week with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts; no experience required.

Caregivers must meet CA requirements, maintain registration, and pass background checks. You'll follow care plans, support activities of daily living, assist with hygiene, transfers, meals, medications reminders, and transport to appointments, while

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Criminal background check completed.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training per CA regulations.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and no active TB.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Follow the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist with personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist with transfers, positioning and ambulation.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health personnel.
• Meal planning and preparation including therapeutic diets.
• Assist clients to bathroom or use of commodes and incontinence care.
• Perform household services including housekeeping, laundry, transportation, shopping, and companionship.
• Assist with medication reminders ordinarily self-administered.
• Report changes to client condition and needs to administrator or care designer.
• Complete records regarding services performed.
• Drive to appointments or run errands.
• Accurately record all hours worked.
• Remain alert and respond to client needs or call for guidance.
• Participate in required training.
• Maintain active home care aide registration with CA State.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
