Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking a skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technician to support our growing national client base. This role involves fiber testing, fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and troubleshooting across diverse environments.

You will work on installation, testing, and documentation of fiber links, with travel and on-site responsibilities. 1099 contractor position, on-site work with travel pay and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Able to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience, and one of FOA/CFOT/BICSI/Network+ or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to:
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecom, and data center facilities.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
