Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. This role focuses on real-world fiber challenges beyond basic installations.

You’ll perform OTDR testing, fusion splicing, fault isolation, and fiber certification across diverse environments, from retail to data centers, with independent field work and strong client communication. This is a 1099 contractor position with on-site work and travel within an 80‑mile radius; documentation

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light sources, fiber certification equipment.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience and one of the listed certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to fiber splicing (fusion/mechanical), OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification; connector inspection, cleaning, remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement; installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments; documentation of test results and splice records.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecom, and data center facilities.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders; be available for service requests within territory (not full-time).
