Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. You will perform fusion and mechanical splicing, OTDR and power meter testing, fiber certification, and fault-distance identification across varied facilities.

The role requires field work, independent problem solving, and readiness for travel. A 1099 contractor position with paid on-site hours and travel pay is offered.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators are preferred.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience and at least one certification OR 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to.
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments such as retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecom, and data center facilities.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory according to availability.
