Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support a growing national client base. This 1099 contractor role involves field work across diverse environments, performing OTDR tests, splicing, and fault isolation with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

You will troubleshoot impairments, replace jumpers, document results, and maintain professional client relations while traveling as needed. On-site work with travel pay is included.

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of the following certifications or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including testing and splicing.
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network-side impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities.
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on your availability, NOT FULL TIME
