Job summary

Charleston Water System is seeking a Fleet Vehicle & Equipment Technician to perform preventive and predictive maintenance on gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment. You will diagnose complex drivetrains, repair electrical and hydraulic systems, and document work in the CMMS.

The role requires coordination with supervisors, other departments, vendors, and on-call coverage. Primary hours are 7:00am–3:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least two years of maintenance/repair experience on gasoline and diesel vehicles/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance for gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair drivetrains for gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair support systems including electrical, fuel, braking, suspension, hydraulic, and automotive computer systems.
• Perform field services for diagnosis and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Document daily work in the CMMS system.
• Communicate with supervisor, other departments, vendors, and customers as needed.
• Maintain safe work area and wear PPE; on-call and may work during hazardous weather or emergencies.
