Job summary

County of Roanoke Virginia is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled labor and assist with repairs, maintenance, and upfits on county and related fleets. The role requires basic electrical work and adherence to safety guidelines, with work conducted under supervision in a shop environment.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Virginia driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in repair and maintenance of gasoline, diesel, hydraulic or cable-operated equipment.
Service equipment including fueling, oil checks, minor fabrication, and vehicle detailing for sale.
Perform 12-volt electrical repairs and install/replace lights and upfits.
Perform routine preventive maintenance and diagnose defects with testing equipment.
Perform minor repairs such as bulb and belt replacements.
Transport vehicles to repair sites as needed.
Operate shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
Road test and inspect work to ensure quality.
Enter work order information into fleet management software.
Maintain clean and orderly vehicle bays and parts areas.
